My Life As An Emily

My musings on every day life
To be nobody but yourself, in a world which is doing its best - night & day - to make you everybody else, means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. E.E.Cummings

Copies & Consistancy

I went to Kinkos last night to copy a HUGE registry review binder for the CAT Scan training I’m starting. While there I was approached by some people who walked in after me to show them how to use the machine. That seems to always happen to me, not that I mind helping, but I must really look like I really know what I’m doing because I often have people ask me for help. It’s nice to know that I look confident enough about what I’m doing to have someone ask me to help them. Now looking at the binder of information was a bit intimidating, but it was invigorating at the same time, a good challenge for my brain!! I was ready to dive into some studying again. My words for this year are Intentionality and Consistancy. Little did I know that I would be embarking on an intensive on the job/self study course in January. This will make the intentional scheduling that I’m implementing and trying to remain consistant with more important. This is definitely a season of learning how to set and stick to good boundaries. I recently watched the movie “Yes Man”, which was entertaining, but my problem has been that I say yes to things too quickly, rather than weighing my options and priorities. So I’m working on saying no more.

My Imagination

I realized while at the Aquarium with my friend Sherah that I can assign a personality or a senario to just about anything.  We’d be going along and I’d be making up personalities for the different fish describing what they were like or saying things that I thought they would say.  I didn’t really realize that I did that.  So much exposure to so many creative people in the last few days has let a lot more of my creative personality out!  :)  It makes me want to do more creative writing again.  You may get a taste of that on here…poor you…

For example: I think this one looks like a grouchy neighbor, staring at you over the hedge. “Can’t you keep your trash on your side of the curb?”

In every new generation, dreamers arise. they think outside of man-made boxes and dare to forge ahead. But today a new breed of dreamers is arising. They not only talk of things to come - they call it into being in the here and now. They live their dreams. James W. Goll
I got to do a photoshoot of my dear friend Sherah who was in town for the weekend.  We had tons of fun going around doing touristy things like visiting the Dushanbe Tea House in Boulder.  Yay for good friends!  You can see more pictures at www.flickr.com/girlontheband.

Cross Training

Today I decided, asked permission, and was approved to pursue cross training into CT (Computed Tomography) Scanning.  This may not sound like that big of a deal but my goal is to take the registry by the end of this year.  That means a lot of studying on my own of anatomy and physics and all that fun stuff!!  I’m excited!  My brain was ready for a new challenge so this should be fun!  It’s a big goal, especially with everything else that I’m already doing but I work best busy.  Here we go!!
